As a home owner you should always make sure that any home improvements carried out by a contractor carry a HomePro Insurance Backed Guarantee. Good contractors will automatically offer you one.
The guarantee offers three levels of cover: Warranty Insurance, Deposit and Warranty Insurance, and Deposit, Work in Progress and Warranty Insurance, the latter reserved for FairTrades members accepted to the TrustMark scheme.
Deposit cover lasts for a maximum of 90 days from receipt by the contractor, while the guarantee period can be up to 10 years depending on the contractor's own guarantee. All cover is provided in addition to the statutory rights conveyed in law.
